I bought this book old. However books like this are precious assets to a personal library, clearly depicting what things a student who wants to understand and do better portrait drawing should do. Lot of books shares the thoughts in a subtle way rather than live examples. I am thankful to the author to depict things in such a great way.
I was thrilled to find Kinstler's early book for such a reasonable price. I love his work and like to read more about his techniques as he has his own processes that produce great portraits.
Got to see the painting at the Norman Rockwell Musuem . What an artist ,what painting and what colors . Each painting had a life to them . That i would like to give it a try
Ray Kinstler is a talented artist who has created amazing images through the ages.This book is an exellent representation.
This is by far the best book. He takes the time to explain his set up, a bit about his history (interesting) and how he approaches Portraiture. A must have for any artist wanting to paint portraits.
Very informative. I love the portrait examples and step intructions. He explains stuff simply and it is easy to follow. I love his style of painting.
The book is a big help to an artist wanting to learn to do portraits. I only wish it described actual colors used, but overall, any information from an artist of Mr. Kinstler's caliber is terrific.
